Information on School in Bahamas, Australia and Egypt

Bahamas

What proportion of children in the Bahamas attend primary school all the way to the end? 94.71%
What proportion of children are enrolled in secondary school in the Bahamas? 85%
What proportion of the population in the Bahamas uses the internet? 33.9%
What effect do you think this will have on education and the economy?  We think that information and communication technology will be introduced to schools since there is low percentage of the population of people in Bahamas having connection to the internet. There might me more service providers, and retailers of electronics related to internet and service provider's income and profit will increase gradually as technology advances day by day.

Australia

What proportion of children in the Australia attend primary school all the way to the end? (No survey or other data collection methods are done on this topic)
What proportion of children are enrolled in secondary school in the Australia? 88%
What proportion of the population in the Australia uses the internet? 72%
What effect do you think this will have on education and the economy? We think that there will not be much progress or increase of any of the data above, because all the data ia already in high rate and the economy will just be increasing slightly or having no much difference as time pasts.

Egypt

What proportion of children in the Egypt attend primary school all the way to the end? 96%
What proportion of children are enrolled in secondary school in the Egypt? 65%
What proportion of the population in the Egypt uses the internet? 20%
What effect do you think this will have on education and the economy? I think there will be more secondary plcaes provided as for the big difference between the first and second data. Internet will also be introduced to many people as the proportion of population uses internet, service providers of internet connection will be benefit as we can predict that the population of internet users will increase in a very fast rate.

SOME QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT

WHY DO YOU THINK LITTLE BAREFOOT BOY IS NOT AT SCHOOL?
We think that the little barefoot didn’t go to school because he is under poverty and the person who is taking care of him cannot afford education for him. We think he stole the handbag as mentioned unwillingly, he stole the handbag for food (bread) in order to survive, he might not even know theft is against the law without education to teach him.

DO YOU THINK HE WOULD LIKE TO GO TO SCHOOL?
We think that he would like to go to school since he never got a chance to go to school and would want to give it a try because he might have a chance to improve his living conditions and get out of poverty.

WHAT IS THIS POEM TRYING TO SAY ABOUT EDUCATION?
The extract from the poem Barefoot Boy says that education is a very important thing for us. The poem tells us about people who don't have education and want to have it. This means that the poem is telling us that education is very important and we as humans should treasure it.

IS THIS POEM TALKING ABOUT A PERSONAL, NATIONAL OR GLOBAL PROBLEM?
We think that the poem Barefoot Boy is talking about a global problem because no matter you are in a developing country or a developed country you still need education. Many people like barefoot boy in the world have no education and might steal to keep him or her alive so we think that it is a global problem.

WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY IS IT TO MAKE SURE CHILDREN GO TO SCHOOL?
The parents and the government  responsibility to make sure children go to school. The parent should paid them to go to school. This is every parents responsibility, if many people are under poverty in a certain country, the government should have free education for the people. This can let the poor children who want to go to school.

WHAT CAN BE DONE IF PARENTS DON'T SEND THEIR CHILDREN TO SCHOOL?
If the parents don't send their children go. The government can legislate to force parents to let their children to go to school or to provide free education. .The government can give the children free education to attract parents and also to attract more school sponsoring body to build school to increase the variety of education available.

WHAT REASONS ARE THERE FOR PARENTS NOT SENDING THEIR CHILDREN TO SCHOOL?
We think the main reasons of parents not letting children to go to school is because they need the children to work in order to survive, for the elder children need to work in order for their younger siblings to have the chance of having education, this is very common in countries with high birth reate.

DO YOU THINK THAT LITTLE BAREFOOT BOY WOULD AVOID CRIME IF HE WENT TO SCHOOL?
I think that little barefoot boy would avoid the crime because if he had education, the teachers would teach him bad and good. Furthermore, if he gets education he would be able to get a job and would earn money. If he had had money, he would not have stole and would be able to have food everyday.

BAREFOOT BOY

Barefoot Boy
by J.L. Mason
from Bahamian Anthology

Little barefoot boy, why no school today?
Is it a holiday that you wander in this way?
Do you dream of bright toys, other little boys
As you wander on your lonesome way,
You with your seven tender years
Little barefoot boy?

Ah! Do you see a door unlatched
And think it only a prank, child's play
When you enter and a handbag take away.
No one saw or did not care to ask you why;
So you cracked conch and bread did buy.
Your first try?

Did we not see your pleading eyes?
Did we pass you by somehow?
No matter - you sit silent in the courtroom now
In your rags and tatters, head bowed,
Little, skinny, unloved, frightened
Barefoot boy.
